Autodesk Admin: Unassign Inactive Users in Usage Report

As of October 31, 2023, Autodesk users with Admin privileges now have the ability to view and unassign users within the Autodesk Account Usage Report. This handy option comes in the form of a simple checkbox that will appear in the Usage Report. The overall benefit to this is in how it can save Admin’s time while reviewing usage reports for inactivity, eliminating the need to navigate to User Management to unassign users.

If you’re unsure of where the Usage Report is located, here are some easy steps:

  • Navigate to your Autdesk account:

(link embedded in the image)

  • Find Usage Report in the left-hand panel:

  • Usage Report will then display in the main panel:

Note: This image does not display the aforementioned checkbox but this is where it will be located if you have Admin privileges.

According to Autodesk’s news release:

The new option will be available globally for admins with single-user subscriptions and Flex. Single-user subscription products are unassigned at the subscription level, e.g., a user is unassigned from a product subscription or from a collection, while Flex products are unassigned at the product level. The user assignment process remains the same.”

However, it also needs to be noted that Admins will not have the ability to use this option for unassigning users whose assignments are currently tied to a group. For those users, the process will still be much the same, using the functions within User Management.

This Autodesk Support Page has even more information pertaining to how Autodesk Admins can assign and unassign products and services as often as needed.

Topics include:

  • Assign product access
  • Assign and unassign users by product

  • Assign and unassign products by user

  • Assign and unassign products by group

Be sure to give that page a look to get all of the important steps for these processes.

I hope you have found this information useful. While you’re here, go take a look at another of my recent posts, exploring the facets of Autodesk’s Forma!
