In a continuing effort to help users keep their software up to date with new features, defect fixes, better performance and more control over the update experience, Autodesk is rolling out Autodesk Access. Starting March 15, 2023, Autodesk Access will replace Autodesk Desktop App.
How to update to Autodesk Access

Autodesk Access is less of an app and more of a miserable bulletin board with only one thing pinned: “we regret to inform you that the Autodesk Desktop App is no longer in use, everything will now be web based”. Paraphrased, it doesn’t actually say that but literally everything that isn’t an update will simply redirect you to the web page. Logging in? Redirect. Troubleshooting? Redirect. Seeing a list of software installed? Redirect. Can I uninstall it now? It doesn’t do anything useful at all.
Hello James! Thanks for your feedback on the new direction of Autodesk Access. Autodesk Access does act differently then the Desktop App like you mentioned, directing the user to their online Autodesk Account for a lot of the functionality. It should however still be notifying the user of updates, and also showing those updates available for download right inside the Autodesk Access app. Another stepping stone to sync up all the functionalities of the Autodesk Accounts! Let me know if you have any questions about it, and hopefully we’ll have future posts about even better ways to stay up to date with your Autodesk products and account from Autodesk.
