Civil 3D adds more functionality and continues to create features to help Designers create more efficiently and with more access to customize the projects design. One feature that has met these goals, is the Corridor Transition functionality that came about in a 2023.2 update, and was enhanced in 2024.
Edit Corridor Transitions
The newer ‘Edit Corridor Transitions’ command is found in the Corridor modification ribbon seen below. This allows you to select the subassembly you want to transition, which parameter to transition to, stations, values and the transition type.
The Edit Corridor Transition Panorama pops up, here is where the above mentioned values and parameters can be edited. Typing in the values, selecting them inside the model, then seeing the corridor update along the way are all available through this panorama.
While editing, it also allows you to see the transition being built graphically in the drawing. A helpful double check that the design is being edited in the appropriate stretch, bonus!
Transition Types
With the many types of transitions available, design corridors to has become even more efficient and user friendly from a drafting AND design stand point. Transition options include the following:
- Linear
- Bay taper
- Cubic in
- Cubic out
- Parabolic in
- Parabolic out
- Reverse parabolic
Overall this is a great tool and will make the design of Corridors that much easier to manipulate and customize efficiently. Check out more information on Corridor creation here.
